Celebrating in Highwood
Where Highwood hosts use lighting
Highwood is a small city tucked between Highland Park and Fort Sheridan, just off Green Bay Road, with a compact downtown of Italian restaurants, cafes and shops. The Metra station sits at the edge of the village, Everts Park offers green space, and Ravinia Festival is only minutes away. It is a place people come to for dinner, and celebrations often follow suit.
Restaurant buyouts and private dining
Rehearsal dinners often use restaurant patios or private rooms. Ask what the venue provides and what you can add.
Lighting here: Check what the venue's house lighting can do first, then rent uplights or pin spots for the cake and centerpieces.
Everts Park and village events
Public green space needs coordination. Check with the City of Highwood about reservations and rules.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Compact backyards
Small lots suit showers and anniversary parties. Choose slim chairs that fit tight spaces.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Fort Sheridan area events
Lakefront and preserve settings nearby have their own rules and access. Confirm with the managing agency.
