Celebrating in McHenry
Where McHenry hosts use linens
McHenry's main streets, including Green Street and Illinois Route 120, carry steady summer traffic, and older downtown buildings often have limited loading. Church halls, fire-hall style rooms and banquet rooms host many milestone parties here. If you plan a tent in a backyard or on a riverfront lot, build in time for stakes, leveling and a rain plan, and ask your tent provider early about ground conditions along the river.
Riverfront gatherings
The McHenry Riverwalk and downtown riverside lawns suit ceremonies and festivals; ground can stay soft near the Fox, so confirm site rules with the city or park district.
Linens here: Picnic tables need fitted or lap-length cloths; floor-length linens drag on the ground and stain on grass.
Lake homes and cottages
Homes toward the Chain O'Lakes often have narrow lanes and decks, which means hand-carry delivery and compact layouts.
Linens here: Floor-length linens hide folding tables but catch wind outdoors. Use clips or a lap-length cloth for breezy lawns.
Community halls and churches
Many milestone parties happen in halls with tables on hand but no chairs that match the occasion, which is where a rental upgrade helps.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.
Park parties
Parks like Petersen Park work for graduation and birthday parties, with reservation and vehicle rules set by the park owner.
Linens here: Picnic tables need fitted or lap-length cloths; floor-length linens drag on the ground and stain on grass.
Delivery notes for McHenry
- Check with the City of McHenry or the park district about vehicle access and unloading before a park or riverfront event.
- Rain happens quickly near the river, so we suggest a plan B for ground-level seating, such as tented rows or a hall backup.
How to plan
Getting linen rentals right
- 01
Match each table
Floor-length cloths look formal; lap-length cloths are cheaper and fine for casual events.
- 02
One napkin per guest
Add 5% spares, plus cocktail napkins if you are serving passed appetizers.
- 03
Don't forget service tables
Gift, cake, DJ and buffet tables need linens too; they show up in photos.
- 04
Accent layers
Runners, overlays and chair sashes add color without replacing every tablecloth.
