Celebrating in McHenry
Where McHenry hosts use games & kids
Nearby, the Chain O'Lakes region and Moraine Hills State Park pull people out to the water, and many celebrations spill into lake homes, cottages and big backyards with decks. Rentals for those homes usually need to be carried by hand from a street or short driveway, so the amount you can fit into one load matters as much as the style you choose.
Riverfront gatherings
The McHenry Riverwalk and downtown riverside lawns suit ceremonies and festivals; ground can stay soft near the Fox, so confirm site rules with the city or park district.
Games & kids here: Parks usually require permission for inflatables and often a generator, since there is no outlet nearby.
Lake homes and cottages
Homes toward the Chain O'Lakes often have narrow lanes and decks, which means hand-carry delivery and compact layouts.
Games & kids here: Measure the yard: most bounce houses need a flat space about 5 feet larger than the unit on each side, an outlet within 50 feet, and no overhead wires.
Community halls and churches
Many milestone parties happen in halls with tables on hand but no chairs that match the occasion, which is where a rental upgrade helps.
Games & kids here: Indoor inflatables need ceiling height: check the clearance, since most units stand 13 to 16 feet tall.
Park parties
Parks like Petersen Park work for graduation and birthday parties, with reservation and vehicle rules set by the park owner.
Games & kids here: Parks usually require permission for inflatables and often a generator, since there is no outlet nearby.
Delivery notes for McHenry
- Summer boating traffic on Route 31 and Route 120 slows deliveries on weekends. We plan the window around peak hours.
- For lake or river homes, send photos of the driveway and path to the yard so the vendor can plan how chairs reach the setup spot.
