Celebrating in Darien
Where Darien hosts use linens
Lots vary from compact ranches to larger properties near the forest preserve, and tree cover is generous. That means shaded setups but also roots and uneven ground. We help you plan table and chair layouts that work with the lot, schedule delivery around weekend traffic on Cass Avenue and Route 83, and keep the order sized to your actual guest count.
Darien is a mostly residential suburb in southeast DuPage County, with Cass Avenue, 75th Street and Lemont Road as its main arteries. Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve and Argonne National Laboratory sit on its southern edge, giving the village a green border, and the Darien Sportsplex draws families from across the area for sports, parties and community events. Neighbors tend to know each other here, which makes block-style graduation and birthday parties a local favorite.
Backyard open houses and cookouts
Mid-sized lots fit 40 to 80 guests. Plan table placement around the grill, patio and trees.
Linens here: Floor-length linens hide folding tables but catch wind outdoors. Use clips or a lap-length cloth for breezy lawns.
Darien Sportsplex and park events
Team banquets and birthday parties use park spaces. Confirm rules with the Darien Park District and the facility.
Linens here: Picnic tables need fitted or lap-length cloths; floor-length linens drag on the ground and stain on grass.
Forest preserve outings
Waterfall Glen hosts picnics and gatherings. Check with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County for permits.

Church halls and banquet rooms
Communion lunches, anniversaries and receptions often need extra chairs and linens.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.

How to plan
Getting linen rentals right
- 01
Match each table
Floor-length cloths look formal; lap-length cloths are cheaper and fine for casual events.
- 02
One napkin per guest
Add 5% spares, plus cocktail napkins if you are serving passed appetizers.
- 03
Don't forget service tables
Gift, cake, DJ and buffet tables need linens too; they show up in photos.
- 04
Accent layers
Runners, overlays and chair sashes add color without replacing every tablecloth.
