Celebrating in Batavia
Where Batavia hosts use lighting
Batavia calls itself the City of Energy, and it has a down-to-earth, neighborly feel. The Riverwalk and the island parks in the middle of the Fox give the downtown a natural gathering spot, and the old windmills scattered around town are a reminder of its manufacturing past.
Riverwalk and island parks
Popular for photos and small ceremonies. Reservations and outside-rental rules are set by the park district.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Backyard graduation parties
Open-house style parties need flexible seating clusters more than straight rows. Plan for guests to come and go.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Barns and farm properties
Outlying farms near the county roads suit wood chairs and long tables, with gravel or grass underfoot.
Lighting here: Barns are dark after sunset. String lights along the beams and a few uplights on the walls make the biggest change.
Banquet and community halls
Many halls include basic chairs. Renting an upgrade is common for the head table or ceremony.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
Delivery notes for Batavia
- If a party runs late, an evening or next-morning pickup can be itemized in the quote.

How to plan
Getting event lighting rentals right

Uplighting
One uplight every 8-10 feet of wall, set to your color palette.
- 02
String lights
For a tent, plan the tent length x 3-4 for a zig-zag or perimeter pattern.
- 03
Drape
Pipe and drape is priced per running foot; use it to hide walls, storage or a kitchen door.
