Celebrating in Washington Park
Where Washington Park hosts use linens
Park events are the main planning challenge. Large gatherings usually need a Chicago Park District permit, and vehicle access to lawns is limited, so we ask early where trucks can stage and how far we'd carry. For homes and halls, we plan around alley access and parking. Tell us your date and guest count to start a quote. Our team is happy to work with a church or block club to plan a layout, and we'll itemize delivery, setup and pickup in a single quote.
Washington Park takes its name from the big park that anchors it, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux with a lagoon, meadows and a fieldhouse. The DuSable Museum of African American History sits inside, and Lorado Taft's Fountain of Time marks the west end of the Midway Plaisance. The park is a favorite for reunions, cookouts and cultural festivals.
Washington Park picnic areas
Reunions and cookouts; Chicago Park District permits apply.
Linens here: Picnic tables need fitted or lap-length cloths; floor-length linens drag on the ground and stain on grass.
Church halls
Anniversaries, repasts and community dinners.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.
Greystone and courtyard homes
Showers, birthdays and graduation parties.
Linens here: Floor-length linens hide folding tables but catch wind outdoors. Use clips or a lap-length cloth for breezy lawns.
Cultural and festival events
Large community festivals and fundraisers.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.
Delivery notes for Washington Park

How to plan
Getting linen rentals right
- 01
Match each table
Floor-length cloths look formal; lap-length cloths are cheaper and fine for casual events.
- 02
One napkin per guest
Add 5% spares, plus cocktail napkins if you are serving passed appetizers.
- 03
Don't forget service tables
Gift, cake, DJ and buffet tables need linens too; they show up in photos.
- 04
Accent layers
Runners, overlays and chair sashes add color without replacing every tablecloth.
