Where Englewood hosts use linens
Many blocks have vacant lots next to occupied homes, so outdoor events often happen on cleared lots, side yards or church parking lots. We ask about ground conditions, power and street access, and we'll recommend sturdy chairs for uneven surfaces. Tell us your date and headcount for an itemized quote. If you're planning on a lot, a church lot or a community garden, let us know early so we can ask about access and any approvals.
Englewood is a South Side neighborhood with a proud history of community organizing, strong churches and block clubs. The 63rd Street corridor, Halsted Street and Ashland Avenue are its main commercial streets, Kennedy-King College anchors the area's education scene, and the Green Line's Ashland/63rd terminal makes it easy to reach from downtown. Block clubs and community groups have been the backbone here for decades, and their events draw people from across the South Side.
Church halls and sanctuaries
Large congregations host anniversaries, funerals and community dinners.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.
Block club cookouts
Summer events on cleared lots or closed streets, requiring city approval for closures.
Linens here: Venues often include white house linens. Renting colored or textured linens is the cheapest way to change the room.
Backyards and side lots
Graduation parties and birthdays with tents.
Linens here: Floor-length linens hide folding tables but catch wind outdoors. Use clips or a lap-length cloth for breezy lawns.
Community gardens and green spaces
Small gatherings and workshops among neighborhood gardens; check with the garden's organizers.

How to plan
Getting linen rentals right
- 01
Match each table
Floor-length cloths look formal; lap-length cloths are cheaper and fine for casual events.
- 02
One napkin per guest
Add 5% spares, plus cocktail napkins if you are serving passed appetizers.
- 03
Don't forget service tables
Gift, cake, DJ and buffet tables need linens too; they show up in photos.
- 04
Accent layers
Runners, overlays and chair sashes add color without replacing every tablecloth.
