Celebrating in Lake County
Where Lake County hosts use concessions
Lake County runs from the Cook County line up to the Wisconsin border, with Lake Michigan on its eastern edge. The county seat is Waukegan, and the lakefront towns of Highland Park, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff along the Metra Union Pacific North line are known for estates, ravines and historic downtowns. Further inland you find Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Gurnee and Grayslake, then the lakes and wetlands of the Chain O'Lakes in the northwest corner.
Lakefront and ravine estates
North Shore estates and lakefront parks mean beautiful setups with wind and uneven ground. Plan ceremony rows with care.
Concessions here: Parks without power need a generator for concession machines, and some do not allow food stands without approval.
Forest preserve gatherings
Lake County Forest Preserves rent shelters and event spaces. Check with the district about permits and vehicle access.
Concessions here: Parks without power need a generator for concession machines, and some do not allow food stands without approval.
Chain O'Lakes and lakeside backyards
Lake houses and waterfront lots in the northwest corner often have narrow access roads, so confirm truck access beforehand.
Concessions here: Concession machines need a level table and an outlet; popcorn and cotton candy machines each use a standard circuit, so avoid sharing it with a bounce house blower.
Suburban halls and downtown plazas
Libertyville, Mundelein and Gurnee have halls and downtown plazas that host weddings, school events and community festivals.
Concessions here: Halls may limit open food stations or require them in the kitchen area; ask before you plan a cotton candy station.
Delivery notes for Lake County
- Lakefront wind is real. For outdoor ceremonies near Lake Michigan, consider heavier chairs and ask about weighted setups.
- Routes 120, 176, 21 and 83 can bottleneck on summer weekends near Gurnee and Libertyville. We plan around the peak hours.
