Celebrating in DeKalb County

DeKalb County lies west of Kane County and is a blend of college town and farm country. DeKalb is home to Northern Illinois University, which shapes local event culture with graduation weekends, homecoming and campus gatherings. Sycamore, the county seat, has a historic courthouse square and hosts the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival each fall. Sandwich is famous for the Sandwich Fair, one of the region's long-running county fairs, and Genoa and Kingston are smaller towns nearby.

The landscape is mostly cornfield and wind farm, with the Kishwaukee River cutting through. Parks like Kishwaukee Kiwanis and Hopkins Park in DeKalb, along with county forest preserves, provide gathering spots. Barn and farm venues are common, and backyard parties in subdivisions and on country lots are the norm for graduation season. Church basements and VFW halls in the smaller towns host plenty of showers and anniversary dinners, and wind across the open fields is something to plan for.

To choose a vendor zone, note that DeKalb County is the farthest west of the regular Chicagoland delivery area. Deliveries to Sandwich and Sycamore may come from Fox Valley vendors, and longer drives are reflected in the quote. Send your address and we match you with the closest crew and itemize delivery so you can see the true cost. Winter dates add one more factor, since snow can close county roads quickly.

Delivery notes

Know before we arrive

Every DeKalb County venue is a little different. These are the things we ask about on a planning call so chairs are placed and ready before your first guest walks in.

I-88, Route 23 and Route 64 carry most traffic. Winter weather and wind can affect timing, so we build in buffer.

Rural venues often have long gravel drives. Ask about truck access and staging before delivery.

Graduation and homecoming weekends in DeKalb fill hotels and roads. Book early and confirm access.

Check with your city or village about tent rules and street use, and share any requirements so setup matches what is approved.
