Celebrating in Prospect Heights
Where Prospect Heights hosts use lighting
Prospect Heights sits between Arlington Heights, Wheeling, Mount Prospect and the Des Plaines River, with Elmhurst Road, Palatine Road and Camp McDonald Road carrying much of the traffic. The Des Plaines River Trail and the Cook County forest preserves along the river give the area a green edge, while Chicago Executive Airport is nearby. It is also a convenient meeting point for guests from Arlington Heights and Wheeling.
Backyard tent parties
Confirm yard size and where the tent can go, and check for utilities or drainage issues.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Banquet halls near Elmhurst and Palatine roads
Ask what chairs and tables are included before adding rentals.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
Park district pavilions
The Prospect Heights Park District sets reservation and equipment rules. Ask early.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Forest preserve picnics
Cook County forest preserves require permits for groups and may limit equipment. Check first.
