Celebrating in Homewood
Where Homewood hosts use concessions
Homewood is a walkable south suburb built around its train station, where Metra Electric and Amtrak both stop and the downtown blocks of Martin Avenue and Dixie Highway hold shops and restaurants. Tree-lined streets of older bungalows and foursquare homes run out in every direction, which gives the village a close-knit, residential feel. Walkability is a real advantage for downtown events, since guests who take the train or park in the village lots can reach a venue on foot.
Backyard graduations
Mature-tree lots give shade but limit tent size. Measure your open space before ordering.
Concessions here: Concession machines need a level table and an outlet; popcorn and cotton candy machines each use a standard circuit, so avoid sharing it with a bounce house blower.
Downtown and restaurant events
Small private rooms near the station host showers and rehearsal dinners, usually with tight loading.
Concessions here: Venues often have exclusive caterers, so check whether outside concession machines are allowed.
Park and preserve gatherings
Local parks and the Izaak Walton Preserve suit casual parties. Check access and reservation rules first.
Concessions here: Parks without power need a generator for concession machines, and some do not allow food stands without approval.
Church and community halls
Halls host receptions and fundraisers, often with a fixed load-in time.
Concessions here: Halls may limit open food stations or require them in the kitchen area; ask before you plan a cotton candy station.
Delivery notes for Homewood
- Mature trees and overhead wires can limit where a tent and truck can reach. Tell us about gates and drive width.
- Older homes may have narrow side yards. Mention any steps or tight turns so the crew can plan the carry.
How to plan
Getting popcorn, cotton candy and concession rentals right

Pick your treats

- 02

- 03
Power
Most machines need a standard 15-20 amp outlet within 50 feet, or a generator outdoors.
- 04
Staffing
Machines are self-serve with a volunteer; carts often include an attendant, so check what is included.
