Celebrating in Avondale
Where Avondale hosts use lighting
Avondale sits between Logan Square and Irving Park, a working neighborhood with Polish roots and a growing mix of Latino families, young couples and small business owners. Milwaukee Avenue runs diagonally through it, lined with long-standing Polish delis and taverns beside newer taprooms and restaurants. That blend makes for a lively event scene, from traditional family banquets to casual brewery parties.
Bungalow and two-flat backyards
Common spots for graduation parties, baptisms and cookouts, usually with alley access.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Milwaukee Avenue taprooms and banquet spaces
Back rooms and private spaces host birthdays, showers and family banquets.
Lighting here: Check what the venue's house lighting can do first, then rent uplights or pin spots for the cake and centerpieces.
Kosciuszko Park
A neighborhood park with lawns and a fieldhouse, under Chicago Park District rules.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Parish halls
Local parishes host communions, receptions and memorial gatherings.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
Delivery notes for Avondale
- For Kosciuszko Park, check permit and equipment rules with the Chicago Park District.
- Backyard slopes and uneven pavers are common. Mention them so we can recommend steady chair styles.

- 02
String lights
For a tent, plan the tent length x 3-4 for a zig-zag or perimeter pattern.
- 03
Drape
Pipe and drape is priced per running foot; use it to hide walls, storage or a kitchen door.
