Celebrating in Rogers Park
Where Rogers Park hosts use lighting
Rogers Park is Chicago's northernmost lakefront neighborhood, and the lake shapes almost everything about an outdoor event here. Beaches at Loyola, Leone and Howard Street open onto a long run of lakefront parks, and a breeze off the water can turn a calm afternoon into a gusty one. If you're planning a ceremony near the shore, heavier chairs are worth the conversation before you pick a style, and we'll talk through that on a short planning call.
Lakefront beach and park gatherings
Loyola, Leone and Touhy-area parks draw big family parties, but Chicago Park District permits and wind both need planning.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Courtyard and greystone backyards
Shared courtyards and small yards suit graduation parties and cookouts, with gangway carries to plan for.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Church and community halls
Parish and congregation halls host receptions, memorials and cultural celebrations for many of the neighborhood's communities.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
University-adjacent event rooms
Loyola's lakeside campus brings graduations, family weekends and small receptions into the surrounding blocks each spring.
Lighting here: Check what the venue's house lighting can do first, then rent uplights or pin spots for the cake and centerpieces.
Delivery notes for Rogers Park
- For anything on the sand or at a lakefront park, check with the Chicago Park District about permits and equipment rules before you book rentals.
- Lake wind can be stronger than the forecast suggests, even in July. We'll steer you toward sturdier chairs for open shoreline setups.
How to plan
Getting event lighting rentals right
- 01
Uplighting
One uplight every 8-10 feet of wall, set to your color palette.
- 02
String lights
For a tent, plan the tent length x 3-4 for a zig-zag or perimeter pattern.
- 03
Drape
Pipe and drape is priced per running foot; use it to hide walls, storage or a kitchen door.
