Celebrating in Ravenswood
Where Ravenswood hosts use linens
Riverside lawns and parks along the North Branch give Ravenswood a green edge, and the Manor's bigger yards make backyard weddings and large graduation parties realistic. Chairs and tables there can be set on level lawns with space to spread out. We'll talk through grass, sprinkler heads and shade, which matter just as much as the guest count on a hot afternoon.
Ravenswood has two personalities. Along Ravenswood Avenue and the Metra tracks, former industrial buildings now hold breweries, studios and event spaces, with loading docks and wide doors that make deliveries easy. A few blocks west, Ravenswood Manor sits on the North Branch of the Chicago River with leafy streets, larger single-family homes and a quieter, almost suburban feel. Both sides throw good parties.
Industrial-corridor event spaces and breweries
Converted warehouses with loading docks and open floor plans, ideal for parties and corporate gatherings.
Linens here: Venues often include white house linens. Renting colored or textured linens is the cheapest way to change the room.
Ravenswood Manor backyards
Larger lots near the river suit backyard weddings, graduation parties and family reunions.
Linens here: Floor-length linens hide folding tables but catch wind outdoors. Use clips or a lap-length cloth for breezy lawns.
Riverside parks and lawns
Green space along the North Branch for casual gatherings, under Chicago Park District rules.
Linens here: Picnic tables need fitted or lap-length cloths; floor-length linens drag on the ground and stain on grass.
Church and community halls
Neighborhood congregations host receptions, memorials and milestone parties.
Linens here: Hall tables are usually plain plastic, so full floor-length linens make the biggest difference in this kind of room.
Delivery notes for Ravenswood
- Metra and Brown Line tracks run through the area. Expect train noise during ceremonies and plan sound-sensitive moments accordingly.
- Lawns near the river can be soft after rain. Check forecast conditions and ask us about chair styles that sit better on soft ground.
How to plan
Getting linen rentals right
- 01
Match each table
Floor-length cloths look formal; lap-length cloths are cheaper and fine for casual events.
- 02
One napkin per guest
Add 5% spares, plus cocktail napkins if you are serving passed appetizers.
- 03
Don't forget service tables
Gift, cake, DJ and buffet tables need linens too; they show up in photos.
- 04
Accent layers
Runners, overlays and chair sashes add color without replacing every tablecloth.
