Celebrating in Palos Hills
Where Palos Hills hosts use lighting
Palos Hills is a residential suburb known for Moraine Valley Community College, whose campus along 111th Street brings graduation ceremonies and community events to the village. The surrounding Palos forest preserves, with their wooded hills and trails, give the area a green backdrop. Moraine Valley's campus also hosts community events, and nearby families often plan graduation dinners the same weekend as commencement.
Backyard tents
Medium and large lots support full tents and round tables. Plan access and level ground.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Banquet hall events
Large guest counts are common. Confirm hall seating before ordering extras.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
Graduation gatherings
Moraine Valley season brings family parties. Order early in May and June.
Lighting here: Check what the venue's house lighting can do first, then rent uplights or pin spots for the cake and centerpieces.
Forest preserve picnics
Nearby preserve groves need a Forest Preserves of Cook County permit.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
Delivery notes for Palos Hills
- Large guest counts may need two delivery stages. Ask about timing so tables and chairs are ready before arrival.
