Celebrating in Lemont
Where Lemont hosts use lighting
Lemont is a historic limestone town on the Illinois and Michigan Canal, where the old downtown along Canal Street climbs from the water to the bluffs. The I&M Canal State Trail runs through town, the Metra Heritage Corridor stops here, and the Old Stone Church and other limestone buildings give Lemont a character unlike most Chicago suburbs. Lemont locals take pride in the quarry heritage, and weddings often feature stone, wood and greenery in the decor.
The town's quarries once supplied stone for buildings across the region, and the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area keeps that history visible. Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, a public golf destination, is also in Lemont. Hills and bluffs create views but also slopes, so ceremony and tent planning depends on the site. Because the town reaches into Cook, DuPage and Will counties, check which local office handles your site before you plan.
Canal-side events
Public trail and canal areas have rules. Check with the village and state for permissions.
Lighting here: Check what the venue's house lighting can do first, then rent uplights or pin spots for the cake and centerpieces.
Downtown Lemont gatherings
Historic buildings and tight streets mean careful loading. Confirm access with your venue.

Rural-edge backyard weddings
Larger lots allow tents and ceremonies. Plan for long drives and uneven ground.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Park and quarry picnics
Public sites need reservations. Check with the Lemont Park District.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
