Celebrating in Elmhurst
Where Elmhurst hosts use dinnerware
Elmhurst's older neighborhoods have beautiful homes on mid-sized lots, with mature trees, tight alleys and limited curb space. Logistics matter: truck access, parking and ground conditions all shape layout. We help you pick chairs that look right with brick and landscaping, size tables to your space, and schedule delivery around downtown and Route 83 traffic. A short call, plus a photo of your yard or room, helps us settle layout, numbers and delivery timing.
Wilder Park and public gardens
A beloved backdrop for ceremonies and portraits. Public sites have reservation and vendor rules, so check with the Elmhurst Park District.
Dinnerware here: Parks rarely suit real china because of breakage and cleanup; consider rentals only for a seated dinner under a pavilion.
Backyard weddings and receptions
Mid-sized lots can host a ceremony and tented dinner. Plan for catering access and restroom solutions.
Dinnerware here: At home, rental china means no dishwashing: plates go back scraped but unwashed. Plan a spot for the return crates.
Downtown restaurants and event spaces
York Street venues host rehearsal dinners and showers, often adding specialty chairs or linens.
Dinnerware here: Many venues and caterers include plates. Rent only what they don't have, such as chargers or dessert plates.
University and community events
Campus gatherings and civic events need tidy, matching seating and quick setup windows.
Dinnerware here: Halls often stock basic plates. Renting chargers and gold-rim plates upgrades the table at a modest cost.
Delivery notes for Elmhurst
- York Street, Butterfield Road and Route 83 get busy, especially when events overlap. We build buffer time into delivery.
- Alleys and narrow driveways can limit truck access. Tell us about gates and the carry distance from the street.
How to plan
Getting dinnerware and plate rentals right
- 01
List the courses
Salad, entree, dessert and bread each need their own plate per guest.
- 02
Add a charger
Chargers sit under each place setting and set the color story; they are removed before the entree.
- 03
Plan for buffets
Buffets need about 1.5 dinner plates per guest because people go back for seconds.
- 04
Coffee and dessert
Add cups and saucers for about 60% of guests if coffee is served.
