Celebrating in Peotone
Where Peotone hosts use lighting
Peotone is a small farm-country village in southern Will County, roughly halfway between Joliet and Kankakee. The village center is compact, with a historic Main Street, a park district and the small-town traditions typical of rural Illinois. Surrounding it are cornfields and soybean farms, with Forest Preserve District of Will County preserves in the surrounding countryside.
Barn and farm weddings
Farm lots and barns host rustic weddings with gravel drives and uneven ground.
Lighting here: Barns are dark after sunset. String lights along the beams and a few uplights on the walls make the biggest change.
Backyard graduation parties
Large rural lots suit tents and long tables for big family gatherings.
Lighting here: String lights between trees or poles turn a yard into a venue after dark. Plan power runs and keep cords off walkways.
Church and school events
Local halls and school facilities host fundraisers, showers and community dinners.
Lighting here: Hall lighting is often harsh. Uplights in your colors and dimmed overheads change the room more than any decor.
Forest preserve outings
Will County forest preserves nearby host picnics. Check with the district about permits and vehicles.
Lighting here: Park events usually end at dusk; if yours does not, battery lanterns and uplights avoid the need for power.
