Indian weddings & sangeets: themes, setups and activities

South Asian weddings are several events in one, each with its own look. A mehndi wants low lounge seating and bright colour, a sangeet needs a stage and a big dance floor, and the reception is a formal dinner for hundreds. Here are setups and ideas for each, with the rentals they take.

Questions

Indian weddings & sangeets FAQs

How big a dance floor does a sangeet need?

Sangeets dance more than most receptions. Plan for a third of guests on the floor at once at about 9 square feet each: 300 guests means roughly 900 square feet, or a 30 by 30 foot floor.

What size stage works for an Indian wedding reception?

Eight 4 by 8 foot stage sections make a 16 by 16 foot stage, enough for a sofa, a backdrop and the couple's families for photos.

Can one rental order cover the mehndi, sangeet and reception?

Often yes, if the events are at the same venue on back-to-back days. Tell us each date so the proposal covers the full rental period.
