Golf Club Event Venues Near Chicago: Rentals and Questions
Hosting a wedding or outing at a golf club near Chicago? Learn what the club supplies, what to ask about tents and carts, and what rentals to add.

A golf club looks like a finished venue: a clubhouse, a view, a kitchen. For many couples and corporate planners in the Chicago suburbs, that is exactly the appeal. But club packages differ a lot, and the line between what the club provides and what you rent is not always obvious. This guide covers the questions that matter and where rentals fit.
Private, semi-private and public clubs
Some clubs are members-only and host outside events only for members or through a member sponsor. Others are public or semi-private and host weddings, outings and fundraisers openly. Policies, minimums and seasons differ, so ask early. We cannot name or characterize specific clubs here; use this as a conversation guide.
What the club usually provides, and what to verify
| Item | Often included | Ask |
|---|---|---|
| Ballroom or tent space | Yes | Capacity seated vs. standing |
| Tables, chairs, linens | Often a standard set | Upgrades allowed? Outside rentals? |
| Catering and bar | Usually exclusive | Outside caterers or bars allowed? |
| Ceremony site | Often a terrace or lawn | Chairs included? Rain location? |
| Staff | Setup and service | Teardown time |
| Parking | Large lot | Delivery access |
| Grounds rules | Cart paths, greens | Where tents and vehicles may go |
Never assume. If the package says "chairs included," ask what they are and how many. If you want a different chair for the ceremony, you may need to rent it, and some clubs have rules about outside vendors and insurance certificates.
Where rentals fit
- Ceremony chairs: the cross-back and ghost chairs both photograph well against fairway green. Estimates are $8 to $11 and $10 to $14. See ceremony vs reception chairs.
- Specialty seating: Louis medallion ($20 to $30) for a head table or velvet lounge pieces. See lounge furniture for cocktail hour.
- Dance floor: ballrooms often lack one. See dance floor size by guest count.
- Tent: for an outdoor reception or rain plan. Ask about grounds rules first; clubs protect greens. See what size tent do I need.
- Lighting: uplights in a ballroom. See how many uplights.

Grounds, carts and deliveries
Golf clubs protect turf. Heavy trucks may not be allowed on the lawn or cart paths, and tent stakes may be restricted. Ask where vehicles can park, what time deliveries are allowed and whether the club's maintenance schedule affects your date. Some clubs operate on early morning schedules and close the grounds to events at certain hours. Deliveries may need to use a service entrance and walk items across.
Corporate golf outings
For an outing with lunch or dinner after the round, plan a space for registration, awards and a dinner. Typical needs include a check-in table, scoreboard easel, tables for 100 and a stage or podium. Read about stages and risers and signage and easels. Outings run on tight schedules, so confirm times for check-in, lunch, dinner and teardown.
Seasons and weather
Golf season in the Chicago area typically runs roughly spring through fall, and course conditions depend on weather. A club may offer lower availability on weekends in summer. Read our monthly guides for June and September to see what weather to expect. A late sunset in June lets ceremonies run later; a September sunset around 7 pm means lighting by dinner.
