Quinceañera Chair Rental in Chicago: Throne Chairs, Court Seating and How Many to Rent
A quinceañera needs more than one kind of chair. Here's how to plan the throne, the court of honor, family tables and guest seating for a Chicago-area celebration, and how to count every seat.

Most quinceañera rental questions start with the throne. It's the chair everyone photographs, and it's where the shoe ceremony happens. But the throne is one chair out of a few hundred, and the rest of the room needs a plan too. Here's how to think about every seat, whether the party is at a banquet hall in Cicero, a ballroom in Aurora or a family backyard in Pilsen.
The four kinds of seats
- The throne chair. One statement chair on the stage or in front of the backdrop. The quinceañera uses it for the shoe ceremony, the toast and a lot of photos.
- The court of honor. Damas, chambelanes and the escort usually sit together at a long table or two near the stage, so they can get up quickly for the entrance and the choreographed dance.
- Family and padrinos. Parents, grandparents and sponsors sit closest to the dance floor so they have the best view of the father-daughter dance and the waltz.
- Guests. Everyone else, usually at round tables, plus a few extra chairs for late RSVPs.
Choosing the throne chair
The throne sets the color story for the whole stage. Match it to the dress and the backdrop, not to the guest chairs.
- Royal throne: a carved high back in gold and ivory, silver and white, or maroon and gold. Best for a big stage and a full-skirted dress.
- Louis medallion: a softer, French-style option if you want elegance without a full throne. It also works as the parents' chairs at the family table.
- Velvet dining chair: blush, emerald, navy or champagne velvet for a court table that matches the damas' dresses.
Two practical points: the throne is an indoor piece, so plan for a tent or a covered stage if the party is outside. And ask how it will get onto the stage. Thrones are heavy, and a stage with stairs and no ramp needs extra hands at setup.
Guest chairs: where to save
Guest chairs are where the count, and the budget, really adds up. Pick one style that suits the room and keep it consistent.
- Gold infinity if the hall is glam, with sequin linens and tall centerpieces
- Ghost if the décor is bold and you want the tables to lead
- Cross-back for a ranch, barn or backyard celebration
Many families keep the venue's house chairs for guests and spend on the throne and court table instead. That's a smart split: the stage and the court are what end up in the photos.
How many chairs to rent
Count each group separately, then add them up.
| Group | How to count |
|---|---|
| Throne | 1 (some families add a second chair for a parent's dance) |
| Court of honor | Number of damas + chambelanes + escort |
| Family and padrinos | Parents, grandparents, siblings and sponsors who sit together |
| Guests | Confirmed RSVPs, plus a small buffer for late replies |
| Vendors | DJ, photographer and videographer, if they eat with you |

Questions to ask your banquet hall first
Many Chicago-area banquet halls include their own chairs, and some have rules about outside rentals. Before you book, ask:
- Can we bring in outside chairs, and is there a fee?
- When can rentals be delivered, and when do they need to leave?
- Is there a loading dock or elevator to the room and the stage?
- Will the hall's staff set rental chairs, or does the rental company?
