Weekend Event Rental Pricing: Friday Delivery, Monday Pickup
Many companies price a Friday to Monday weekend as one rental day. See when that holds, when it does not, and the exact questions to ask for a fair quote.

Your party is Saturday. The truck cannot bring everything at 4:00 p.m. on the same day, and you do not want to hunt for a pickup crew at midnight. So you ask for Friday delivery and Monday pickup. Will that cost three or four days of rent? Often not. Many companies price the weekend in a block. Here is how to check yours.
In Chicago the question matters more than it seems. Summer weekends, graduation season and the big holiday weekends fill truck schedules, and a Friday drop in a two-flat backyard or a Monday pickup from a busy block both need a clear plan with the company.
How a weekend block usually works
Rental companies often price by "rental period", not by the calendar. Items go out, they come back, and the period is a day, a weekend or a week. Because many businesses are closed on Sunday or run fewer crews, a Friday-to-Monday weekend is a natural block. It is a practice we see described widely, but each company sets its own terms.
When one weekend price holds
- Standard items like chairs, tables and linens at many companies.
- Events on Saturday with Friday delivery and Monday pickup.
- Off-peak dates, when trucks and stock are open.
When it may not
| Situation | What can change |
|---|---|
| Tents, heaters, generators | These are often priced by day, event or install, not by weekend |
| Peak weekends (June, prom and graduation season, holidays) | Companies may charge extra or limit pickup days |
| Long weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) | A Monday holiday can mean a Tuesday pickup and an added day |
| Sunday events | Pickup may be Monday morning, but some companies price Sunday-to-Monday differently |
| Friday events | The weekend block may start Thursday |
| Specialty items | Dance floors, games and lighting may use their own terms |
Always ask by item type. One quote can include some items on a weekend block and others by the day.
What most hosts find out too late
Monday pickup is not always Monday. If Monday is a holiday, the company may be closed and pick up Tuesday. Ask what happens and whether it adds a day. This matters around Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day weekends. Also see late-night and early pickup fees for the other direction.
Friday delivery means a night of rentals sitting at your place. Items stay in your garage, backyard or venue, and you are responsible for them. Read keeping rentals safe overnight before you pick Friday.
A weekend price does not cover a late return. If items stay out past Monday, the company may bill another day. Say when you will have everything stacked and ready.

When to take the weekend block, and when not to
If your event is Saturday and your home or venue can hold the items safely, a Friday delivery and Monday pickup is a calm way to do it. If you want the least handling, a Saturday morning delivery and Saturday night or Sunday morning pickup may cost less in item days but more in timing fees. Compare the totals.
