Galentine's Day Brunch Party: Table Setup for 10 to 20 Friends
Host a Galentine's Day brunch on Feb 13 with the right tables for 10 to 20 friends, a mimosa or mocktail bar and a craft station that fits the room.

Galentine's Day is a brunch with your friends the day before Valentine's Day. It is a popular excuse to get a group together in a Chicago winter, when everyone needs something to look forward to. In 2027, February 13 falls on a Saturday, so you do not have to compete with work. The party is easy to plan if you set up the room well and keep the drinks and the craft table apart.
Pick the room and the time
A late morning start around 11 am works for most groups. It leaves time to set up and keeps the afternoon free. Plan on a two-hour party, plus 30 minutes after for guests who linger.
- At home. A dining room or open living area works for 10 to 12 guests. Beyond that, you will need to move furniture.
- A rented room or hall. For 15 to 20, a community room, loft or party room gives you more space for stations.
- Restaurants. Some private rooms allow outside decor and a craft table. Ask before you plan around it.
Check the door width and the floor before you order tables, and see brunch rentals for 20 to 50 for bigger groups.
Table setup for 10, 15 and 20
A widely used rule of thumb is about 24 inches of table width per person. That puts 8 people at an 8-foot banquet table, and 10 at a 72-inch round.
| Guests | Table option | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | One 72-inch round, or one 8-foot table plus 2 | Easy to talk across |
| 12 to 16 | Two 8-foot tables, or two 60-inch rounds plus a small one | Good for mixing groups |
| 18 to 20 | Three 6-foot or two long tables with a station table | Add a second food spot |
For tables and seat counts, see how many tables you need. Use a cloth that fits the table, as in our tablecloth size chart, and add a runner and small flowers in the middle.
The mimosa or mocktail bar
Keep the bar on its own table, away from the food and the craft area.

The craft station
A craft table gives guests something to do while others arrive, and gives you something to take home. Pick one craft and keep supplies simple.
- 1Step 1Choose one craftCards, flower arranging, tote bags or candle decorating.
- 2Step 2Put it on a table of its ownA 6-foot banquet table fits 6 people.
- 3Step 3Cover the tableUse paper or a cheap cloth, and keep wet supplies on a tray.
- 4Step 4Set supplies in bowlsOne set per two guests keeps things moving.
- 5Step 5Give it a timeRun it for 30 to 40 minutes, then clear it before dessert.
What most hosts find out too late
- Chairs are the first thing to run short. Count every guest, plus a few spare for late arrivals. If you are hosting 15 or more, rent chairs and tables so no one sits on a couch alone.
- Book early for February Saturdays. Valentine's weekend is busy, and rental companies may have limits on delivery times. Check the date as soon as you set it.
- Winter changes the delivery. Snow, salt and ice make the entry slippery. Clear the walk and ask the crew where to stage things.
- Dishes count. A brunch for 15 needs plates, forks, cups and napkins for several rounds. See dinnerware for brunch.
A simple timeline
- 10:30 am. Set out food and drinks.
- 11:00 am. Guests arrive and the drink bar opens.
- 11:30 am. Sit for brunch.
- 12:30 pm. Craft station opens.
- 1:15 pm. Dessert and a group photo.
- 1:30 pm. Wrap up.
