Planning an Event in Homer Glen, IL: Acreage Party and Tent Rentals
Plan a Homer Glen backyard or acreage party: yard staging, delivery access on long drives, tent and table counts, septic and utility cautions and chair costs.

Homer Glen is a Will County village in the southwest suburbs known for larger residential lots, open space and a more rural feel than many Chicago suburbs. That space is a gift for a big party, but it creates its own challenges: long driveways, gates, soft lawns and the question of where in a large yard to put things. This guide helps you stage a party on acreage.
Map the property before you order
The best spot is not always the prettiest. Pick it for ground, access and utilities.
Measure the carry in feet. A long carry costs time and adds labor, and soft ground can make carts impossible. If the lawn is wet, ask about plywood, mats or a hard path. Illinois spring storms can leave low areas soggy for days, so walk the lawn after rain.
Utilities and septic
Acreage often means buried lines. Before stakes go in, call JULIE, the Illinois utility locating service, and mark private lines such as sprinklers and invisible fences yourself, since the public locator may not mark private lines. If your property has a septic system, ask the owner or a pro where the tank and field are, and avoid driving heavy equipment or parking over them. Check for a well head and avoid blocking it. These cautions protect your property and keep the tent crew safe.
Tent size and the village
A 100-guest seated party with a dance floor often needs about 40 x 50 feet. Our tent size guide helps compute it. For permits, contact the Village of Homer Glen to ask whether a tent permit or inspection is required, and read our Chicago tent permit guide for the usual questions.
| Guests | Seating | Tent | Chairs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 6 rounds of 8 | 30 x 30 ft | 53 |
| 100 | 10 rounds of 10 | 40 x 50 ft | 105 |
| 150 | 15 rounds of 10 plus dance floor | 40 x 80 ft | 158 |
Chairs for a large lawn
On big lawns, ceremony and party spaces may be far apart. Choose chairs that are easy to carry in bundles.
- The teak garden folding chair at about $5 to $7 is the practical choice.
- The cross-back chair at about $8 to $11 gives a rustic look at the tables.
- The rattan garden chair at about $12 to $16 suits a lounge.

Power and light on a large property
A DJ, caterer and lights can each need dedicated power, and an outlet near the house may be far from the tent. Use outdoor-rated cords, keep connections off wet grass and bury or cover cords across walkways. A generator may be needed for a large setup; ask a professional how to size and place it safely, away from guests and tent walls. Plan light for the walk from the parking area to the tent, since country properties are dark at night. See our string light layouts.

Parking and guests
Large lots can handle many cars, but only if the ground is firm. Mark parking with signs and a volunteer, and keep a path for emergency vehicles. If the lawn is soft, ask whether a nearby lot or a shuttle is allowed. Tell neighbors in advance. Some country roads have narrow shoulders, so plan carefully.
Delivery
We deliver from St. Charles, with deliveries starting in April 2027. For acreage, share the address, driveway length, gate width and the final setup spot. Delivery fees depend on distance and access, so send photos with your quote request. A truck cannot always reach the back of a long property, so a carry from the drop point may be needed.
